Privacy at Datum
Effective October 24, 2026
This page explains what information datumweather.com collects, why, and what we do with it. We collect as little as we can, we never sell it, and we do not use it for advertising.
Site analytics (Google Analytics)
Our public pages use Google Analytics so we can see how many people visit, which pages are useful, and where the site needs work. It is not used inside our customer apps or our administration pages.
Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_GJH5L7399H) and records:
- the pages you view, how you arrived (for example a search engine or a link), and roughly how long you stay;
- your device type, browser and screen size;
- your approximate location, such as city and country. Google works this out from your IP address; Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
We have turned off Google signals and ad personalization for our site, and we never send Google your name, email address or any account identifier. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy, described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Requesting access
If you ask to join the waitlist, we store the email address you give us and use it only to contact you about access to Datum. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
Privacy requests
If you use the privacy request form, we keep your email address, your request and our reply so we can show it was handled. Your IP address is not stored with it.
Location searches
When you type a place name during setup, it is sent to our location-lookup service to find its coordinates, so we can show weather for that place.
Server logs
Like most websites, our server keeps a short record of requests: the IP address, the page requested, the time and the browser. We use these logs only to keep the site secure and running, and they are deleted after 14 days.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not show advertising, and we do not use your information to target ads.
- We share information only with the service providers that run the site: Google (analytics) and Amazon Web Services (hosting).
Customers
Information inside the Datum apps used by our customers is covered by each customer's agreement with us, not by this page.
Changes and questions
If we change this page, we will update the date at the top. To ask us to delete the information we hold about you, show you what we hold, or correct it, use the privacy request form on our Support page. We reply by email within 30 days.
