Get your API key from your weather station

Feed your own personal weather station into Datum as real ground truth for your location.
New here? The setup guide walks through the whole sign-up step by step, including what to do if you do not own a station.
  1. Make sure your station is already reporting to Weather Underground. Most consumer stations (Ambient Weather, WeatherFlow Tempest, Davis, etc.) do this automatically once set up in their own companion app — check that your station shows up at wunderground.com/member/devices.
  2. Find your Station ID: open your station's page on Weather Underground — the ID is shown right on the dashboard (it looks like KTNSUMME12).
  3. Get your API key: while logged into your Weather Underground account, go to wunderground.com/member/api-keys and generate a key.
  4. Enter them in Datum: the setup wizard asks for your Station ID and API key, checks them against Weather Underground, and stores the key encrypted against your account. Never email an API key — you do not need to, and it cannot be un-seen once sent.
  5. Once it's added, your station's real readings become the ground truth your app's blended forecast is scored against — instead of a generic regional estimate.
Don't have a personal weather station yet? You can still use every Datum app — you'll just be running on the regional forecast blend until a station is connected.

Pair your thermostat with the API

Connect a Honeywell Home (Resideo) thermostat so Datum can react to your yard's own real temperature.
  1. Make sure your thermostat is already online in the Honeywell Home app, under a Resideo account you can sign in with.
  2. In your Datum app, go to Settings → Automation → Connection.
  3. Choose Connect Honeywell Thermostat and sign in with your Resideo account when prompted — this grants Datum permission to read your thermostat's status and adjust its setpoint.
  4. Go to Control Rules and add rules like "if temperature is above 85°, raise the thermostat by 2°" — these run against your own station's real reading, not a generic forecast.
This connection is currently pending Honeywell/Resideo's developer approval, so the Connect button is temporarily disabled. Everything else — rules, the live preview, and the activity log — already runs on your real yard data, so your setup will be correct the moment it goes live. No action needed on your end in the meantime.
